Default create backup DNS/DHCP server

I have a NT 4.0 server that is running DHCP and DNS just
wonder. However, I've installed another server running
2000 and want to install DNS and DHCP on it as a backup.
Any step by step instructions on how to do this? Main
reason is if the main server ( nt 4.0) crashes I can just
make this the primary one.

Once this is done do I have to do anything to the PC's to
reconize this server as a secondary?

P.S. running in a NW ( file/print/authinication) shop not
MS. MS server's are DHCP/DNS/SMS
thanks

Install DNS on the W2K system, create a new zone, standard secondary,
point it to the NT4 primary. Failover is automatic.

For DHCP, install DHCP, configure it to serve the same info as the
first, then disable the service. Enable the service if the first
fails. Alternatively, create the DHCP scope with a separate range of
IP addresses and let both DHCP servers run together, when one fails
and a leas expires, the workstation will automatically get a lease from another.

DHCP, no. DNS you need to have the secondary DNS entered in your
TCP/IP properties, handle that by adding the secondary to the DHCP
scope's DNS server list.

We forgive you. Though if it were me I'd be running DHCP and DNS on
Netware, and Zenworks. Why have two separate OS's to deal with just
for the services you list?
