Default Promotion of Secondary DNS to Primary

For the life of me I cannot find ANY information on how to
promote a Secondary DNS server should the Primary fail.
Does anyone know?

Thanks!

Active Directoy Integrated, you don't. Standard secondary, simply
change the zone to standard primary.

Thanks for the answer Jeff, but I was amiss in not stating
that this is NT 4.0 Server...hence the apparent lack of
information relative to the promotion of a Secondary DNS
Server. Any information you can provide would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks!

Okay, I'll try again. Simply change the zone to Primary.

In DNS Manager, point to the zone, right click and choose properties.
General tab, click on Primary.

There is no "promotion" of a DNS server, it is either primary, or
secondary to another primary. And if you have a primary fail, the
secondary keeps working even if you don't change it to a primary zone.
It just doesn't get updated until the primary is back online. Jeff

Again, thanks. So if our Primary should go South we can
make the Secondary the Primary and at some point make
another Secondary (assuming the loss of the original
Primary was due to catastrophic hardware failure).

Your help is greatly appreciated to say the least!
