Default IP address and Windows NT Domain

I have a question that might be silly for most of you, but... I have
a small windows NT domain (NT4) and I just recently changed my
internet access service, and my NT Server no longer has interenet
access. The rest of the computers that are running DHCP have access
to both the internet and the domain. I need to get the server online
to do a windows update to it. I am not sure what SP it is running.
Can I change the settings of the server to run DHCP and get online and
NOT effect the domain?

Right now the server has a static IP address with gateway and such.
If I change this to DHCP will I no longer be able access the domain?

Thank you,

David

Hi David,

It won't do you any good to change the settings to DHCP
if the server is already being assigned the correct parameters.

Open a dos prompt and run ipconfig /all and verify the server
has the correct configuration. Next attempt to ping the gateway.
If this is successful then run nslookup. Do you get a default DNS
server name with the correct tcp/ip address?
