Default Q. Can I install Win2K over NT4 SERVER and still keep my NTFS partition ?

Hi,

My NT 4 Server which has worked nicely for years, is now acting like
it's going to blow up.

I just want to isntall Win2K pro (NON server), over my NT4 Server.

My C: drive is FAT, my D: driver is NTFS.

If I do write over my NT 4 like I describe, will I lose my NTFS
partition ? Does Win2K Pro recognize NTFS ?

Thanks,
Jim

There is no supported upgrade path from any version of server to any version
of workstation or vice versa. NTFS is the native file system of Windows
NT/2000/XP/2003

David,

Thanks for your response.
I've decided then to get a copy of Win2K from an upcoming show, unless
you know of a good site where I can purchase it.

I have created a FAT partition, and copied all my files from my NT
partition to the FAT one.

I prefer not to go to any higher version of Windows, as I understand
there is a requirement to register the software online, and may limit
the number of machines I can use it on (ie XP).

Please advise.

Thanks,
Jim

Greetings --

Win2K does not have WPA, but that hardly matters. WPA is simply a
means of enforcing licensing restrictions that have _always_ applied
to all Microsoft operating systems, including Win2K.
