TCP/IP not working properly
I've been having internet troubles the last two days. My problem is that
I'm not able to use Internet Explorer, Outlook, or anything else. I was not
running a firewall but my computer was acting normally when I shut down my
computer Thursday night. AntiVirus was running at all times. I'm running
windows 2000. And I should also note I had my firewall shut down most of
Thursday.
Originally, I had no connection to the internet whatsoever. DHCP was not
giving me na IP address, I couldn't ping anything, and couldn't connect with
the other computer on my network. After unstalling my network card driver,
along with all of the protocols I had running before, I've gotten some
access back.
When I run diagnostics from the Command Prompt-- ipconfig, ping, netstat,
nbtstat -- everything appears to be working perfectly. The Network Monitor
and my firewall are telling me packets are being sent and recieved.
My firewall indicates that only two running processes are accessing the
internet--IPX and NetBEUI. Before my troubles, there would usually be more
like 8.
TCP/IP protocol is noticeably absent from that list. The protocol appears
to be working, given that I'm able to run all of those programs from the
Command Prompt.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
