Default HELP - Remote Vista administration and monitor activity

Hi,

I would like to know how to remotely administer and monitor activity on
a Vista Ultimate system. My daughter and I have Vista Ultimate boxes.
She lives with her mother in the midwest while I am on the east coast.

She does go to myspace web site to chat with her classmates in school.
However, I am getting more and more concerned (especially after the
Florida teens attack their classmate). I would like to monitor her
online activities.

I know Windows has Remote Desktop on XP version. Is there something like
that for Vista? How do I configure Remote Desktop to limit connections
only to each others box?

How do log her online activity?

Is there anyway I can download (via Remote Desktop) those logs to my
system to analyze?

Any help you can give is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

You can use www.logmein.com to monitor or remote control the computer. They
have a free and pay for service. I use the free one. You set up a free
account and then download the software onto her computer and you can monitor
it from any computer thru a web browser. Your daughter will know that you
are monitoring and she can shut it off if she wants to.

You didn't say if this monitoring setup was to be done covertly or openly

If you think that creepy covert spying on your daughter is acceptable, you
can expect serious problems in your relationship with her in the future.

Thank you for replying. I will check this software out. This is an
openly monitoring her computer for online activity. She gets iTunes
music but lately her classmates hang out on myspace. That is where the
concern is now.

Radmin.com
I use Radmin at times but I find Logmein to be easier for a couple of
reasons.

with Radmin you have to know the Current IP address in order to connect. You
can connect and view WITHOUT the person's knowing but that is a ethical
problem you will face and also it MAY be illegal to do so without the person
being notified.
They also sell key dongles that can capture all sort of things inc myspace
postings any IM posting ect - Google this for more info.

Both Logmein and Radmin require you to install the software on the client
machine Their is no way to do this otherwise.

Bonus with logmein is that it's free and all the computers can be access
from one webpage ( using secure password and 256 bit encryption) you do not
need to know and IP address

Remember depending on the state you could be charged with computer tampering
and or other charges if you get caught trying to so the sly way and get
found out...

I have over 50 people on my Logmein account ( 48 free and 2 paid accounts )
all know that if they call with a problem I can fix their system but Rule 1
Their computers do not get accessed without their permission and Rule 2 I
don't snoop, I find the problem and fix it and I don't access any personal
info or monitor them in any way.
I am trusted by all these people and I keep that trust by being honest.

Make sure you have that same trust with your kids, it will go along way with
them in the long haul.

I hope this helps you.
With Radmin you can
a.. Access and control your home and office computer remotely from
anywhere
b.. Provide Help Desk (remote support) functions for remote users
c.. Manage small, medium, and large networks remotely
d.. Perform systems administration remotely
e.. Work from home
f.. Organize online presentations and conferences
g.. Share your desktop
h.. Teach and monitor students' activities remotely
