Default missing control panel - display

hi,

i've got a machine on which the display icon in the control panel is
missing. also a rightclick on the desktop background selecting the
properties item doesn't open anything.
When i try to install the display driver (Geforce 2) it crashes with the
error message: impossible to install the driver. please contact the hardware
distributor.

Any ideas?

I haven't scanned for viruses yet, but that will be the next thing i'm going
to do because sometimes i shut down the machine a window called 'should not
see me' appears and tells me the program hangs.

Does anybody know such a virus?

Chris

Hi,

This depends on several issues. Start here on line 285 (right hand side):
