Hi and thanks in advance!

I have an unused icon on my desktop that refuses to go away, it's from a
game that was installed and has been removed. Did a search in regedit and
found nothing. There are no folders on the system that I can see with the
program name. On delete I get the message it cannot be deleted because it
may be in use. I checked in msconfig/startup, it's also not listed. Advise
please?

Common window keeps popping up on startup. Also not in msconfig startup
options. Suggestions?

Hi,

1) See: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_d.htm#del

2) You have a damaged string in one of the run keys of the registry. Run
msconfig and take a look at the location strings for each entry. Uncheck
ones that begin with "C:\Program Files\Common Files...", then click apply/ok
and reboot to see if the problem still ocurs.
