Default One non-RAID HDD with Two RAID-0 HDD's ?

Last year I built a computer with two SATA HDD’s configured with RAID-0 using
XP Pro. My computer works flawlessly, but now I would like more storage
space. Can I install one non-RAID SATA HDD separate from my RAID-0
configuration? Will the RAID-0 configuration in my BIOS and OS affect the
single non-RAID HDD?

Only your controller knows for sure!

Read the SATA controller docs; what you propose is doable under many
controllers.

John, thanks for responding. I am using a Silicon Immage SATA controller on a
Gigabyte mobo. I couldn't find in the docs if it is doable or not. If I
install the HDD and turn my computer on, what is the worst that can happen?
Thanks

Was fine when I used this controler on my last mobo.
It works fine on my current mobo with different controlers

Thanks DL. It just occured to me that my Gigabyte mobo has two controllers -
Silicon Image and Intel. I installed both drivers, but configured my RAID
Array using the Silicon Image controller. To prevent possible problems, I
could probably connect the non-RAID HDD into the SATA Intel controller? Last
question. With a SATA adaptor and SATA cable, can I use an ATA HDD and just
remove the jumper shunts, as SATA doesn't use jumpers?
Thanks again.
