Hi ; can you add more info on type of computer (Dell), OS (XP) Will the
OS load into Safemode? or normal mode? Have you tried GOBack to restore to a previous point? More to follow after you reply. RBS "Quick Fixes for Windows XP" http://robertbidgood.spaces.msn.com/ |

Hello; my recommendation would be to back up the data and documents and
any other personal stuff under My Documents on a CD or mem stick and do a fresh install of XP. (don't forget to have all your device drivers ready incase XP can't find one.) This would be the fastest and least annoying solution and one I recommend to all my clients in this situation. Also I would recommend in the future to make sure your restore is working before installing and uninstalling devices. Then I would have a registry cleaner on call to clean up (I think you have Cleansweep with Norton Systemwork?) in between uninstalls and installs. Anyways to try and fix corrupt file and replace them, try this "How do you perform a reinstallation of Windows XP, sometimes called a repair installation." http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...ps/doug92.mspx Configure your computer to start from the CD-ROM drive. For more information about how to do this, refer to your computer's documentation or contact your computer manufacturer. Then insert your Windows XP Setup CD, and restart your computer. When the Press any key to boot from CD message is displayed on your screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD. Press ENTER when you see the message To setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the Welcome to Setup screen. Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console. In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement. Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup.
