Perfectly legitimate question. For my Yamaha acoustic, I started with
the type of strap that ties onto the neck, but I didn't really like the way that felt. So I bought a strap button - (like the ones listed at http://www.elderly.com/accessories/A...tar_Parts.html and http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/...86228418140498) - and installed it onto (i.e., screwed it into) the heel of my guitar. "Heel" being the part shown here: http://www.artandlutherieguitars.com/anatomy.htm. The best location for the strap button will probably vary for different makes and models of guitar. Probably best to get a professional to do it, unless you're the handy-with-a-drill type. A Google search will reveal a fair number of "do it yourself" pages on installing strap buttons, which are informative even if you prefer to get the guitar shop to do it for you. - Frank |
