It all started the day Rich Excellente walked in my shop and said he
wanted to make a guitar like a car. So, the sketch pad came out, and the pencils got busy. We made up the templates to a correct scale for actual size, and went from their. I was the guy that worked with Rich to get the first ones made for the NAMM show. Yep, cut, shaped, fitted the castings, sanded, painted, and hand made the pickguards. Those guitars were painted the weekend before the show. This is the very first one made. It had serial number one attached to it. http://timeelect.com/car-57.htm Then, here is the group that was shown for the first time at NAMM. http://timeelect.com/Book09.htm From that point, I had helped out get the plant in north Jersey jump started. I then backed out of the situation as there suddenly appeared too many new faces with big plans that got out of control. Too many fingers in the pot, killed this project. It's a shame what these people did!!!!!! That was a nice piece of engineering!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If it weren't for me, there would have not been any patent on that guitar. When my name didn't appear on the patent, it was time to walk away from this out of control mess. <thinking> BTW, somewhere, I even have a picture of the one made that was in the 1986 Christmas issue of Playboy Magazine. I should find it, and put it up on my site too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, the summer of 1986 that whole thing started.
