Default Bill Would Put Internet Song Swappers in Jail (them)

That's it. I've had it. Unless the prices are lowered to about $6.00,
I will never, ever buy a CD from a retail store again.
I will only buy used CD's and I suggest that everyone else do the same.
Fuck the RIAA! Fuck them all!!! Boycott the music industry. Now!!!

Default Bill Would Put Internet Song Swappers in Jail (think)

DVD-Audio? Now there's an answer in search of a question. Bands already
have to pad albums with a lot of crap to come up with 650 MB of
material. I shudder to think of what they'll add to get up to 4 GB.

Audio DVDs as an alternative to boxed CD sets, I can see.

Well, _somebody_ has to buy it new or it will never get to the used record
store.

The audio is 24/96 or 24/48 instead of 16/44. This results in much higher
audio quality, as well as much larger files, but not more music

Figures Berman is in on this one. After all, he was the Representative
who introduced the bill that said anti-piracy groups could legally
hack into file sharer's computers, which led to DDoS attacks on the
RIAA's website. Don't these bozos have more important things to do than
make a law turning every 15 year old on Kazaa into a convicted felon?

Default Bill Would Put Internet Song Swappers in Jail (them think electric)

'And this would be bad because...? The music industry has no right to
exist in its current form. Bankrupt it by it not being able to sell its
product, and perhaps they will learn. Just before the turn of the 20th
century, the gaslight industry raged because the electric light would put
them out of business. It did. 'Notice how terrible our lives are without
gaslights on every corner and in every house? Buggy whip manufacturers
haven't been doing terrible well, either. I also don't see a lot of people
making money on turntables or reel to reel tape decks. I think 8 track
tapes are also in trouble. The last thing congress should ever even
consider worrrying about is an industry going under. If the product has
enough intrinsic worth to the public and is sufficiently difficult for the
public to produce at the individual level, then any industry will make a go
of it. If it can't then not only is it just tough they can't, but they in
fact SHOULD not exist, and any attempt to artificially prevent them from
bankruptcy is so much money spent and freedom lost on horse pookie. To
paraphrase Robert Heinlein, "A government supported industy is an
incompetent whore."
