Default Do you remember this old song from the 70's? (time)

I have been trying to find an old song that my Dad and I use to like.
I do not remember the name of it or who sang it and neither does my
Dad. The song was about a man in an mental hospital drawing with a
crayon when his ex-wife comes to visit. I remember my Dad driving
around Kansas some time in the 70s when I was very young and this song
would come on. Please post if you have any clue to what I am talking
about...

Thanks,

Tres

I think the song is John Conlee's "I Don't Remember Loving You."
You can still buy it on John's web site or on one of John's Greatest Hits
CDs through Amazon.com

Exactly. However, the song was actually in the early 1980's (1982, I
believe, the same year he tackled the tear jerker "Miss Emily's
Picture"). Great singer and even better song lyrics, but is that the
way he really sings?

Speaking of songs probably that old - does anyone know who did a song with
the lyrics "I got cut on a piece of your broken heart", I always thought
that was genius since the one time I heard it.

Yeah, I remember that one: "You say I quit my job and then I drank
myself insane/You say that I ran down the highway screamin' out your

I wondered at the time whether it had been inspired in some way by
another (rather happier) hit of those days, "I Don't Remember Ever
Never Loving You" by Ed Bruce, but never found out.

Cheers,
