Default FA: Silverface Champ (stories art)

On Sun, 02 Nov 2003 17:26:07 GMT, Nels <edmnels@citlink.net> took up his/her discourse and spake:

I sold a '78 not long ago. It had a Jenson C8R and sounded great. The Weber probably
makes it all that much sweeter.

I especially like the "late day glow" picture of the back of the amp. Gives it that
art deco feel. ;-)

Default FA: Silverface Champ (time)

Mark,

I liked the day-glow thing too....I'll be able to fondly remember that amp
after its been sent on its next mission in life. I've got a three amp max
set for myself and it's time to let one go to make room for the next one....

Default Silverface Champ (so)

Hello Eric,

I hope all the guys who post the question "what is a good amp for my
home/apartment" see your for-auction post. Champs are great home amps, and
are plenty loud for at-home use. It is a great amp in a number of ways,
such as being able to put in pretty much any 6V6 and plug and play.

I have a late 70's SF Champ that I've hotrodded so that it uses either a
rectifier, or, a solid state rectifier, and I can use 6V6, 6L6, 5881, 6550,
EL34's, etc. Lots of tone possibilities. The SF Champ can be a great
platform for mods like this stuff.

I teach guitar using two Champs; perfect small amps for this use.

Thanks for your posting and all the best, Eric.

Walk in Beauty, Peace. Scott

'Satan' calling...don't sell it. You have room. Keep it and
tell her you sold it. You can find the space.

Default FA: Silverface Champ (may sweet)

Nice amp -- I just this week bought a '77 Champ from one of the local
musicians here in town -- he was using it as a fiddle amp. It's very
clean inside and out, mostly stock except for a Groove Tubes 6V6 and
Utah speaker. I've been reading/researching on the net -- the Weber
speaker upgrade sounds like an interesting idea. Heck, the amp already
sounds pretty sweet to my ears! I was amazed at how versatile this
little 6-watter is! Sold!

Today's tip for motorists: You may not need a four-wheel drive vehicle;
you may just need four snow tires. People have been hoodwinked into
believing the myth of "all-season" radial tires. Radial tires are only
"all-season"
in places like Florida and Central America -- but if you get much snow
at all, you still need snow tires. Many a ****er has gone from all-season
radials to a Mammothmobile because they believed it was the only way to
survive winter driving. I use really good radial snow tires on my
compact Ford and zoom past stuck SUV's all winter. I saved about $32,000
in the process and that's BEFORE I get to a gas pump. And I don't need
a war to get me to the grocery store.

Satan...hey, how the hell's it going. While I usually value your advice,
I'm going to have to go with my guardian angel on this one. She thinks I
should sell this amp and then get another that is at least twice as
expensive....very sneaky!!!

Default Silverface Champ (overdrive)

Hey Man I've often wondered what an amp with a single EL34 would sound like.
Does the Champ overdrive nice with that tube or not at all?

Default Silverface Champ (stories crunch)

On Tue, 04 Nov 2003 06:10:15 GMT, Keith Adams <keithadams@socal.rr.com> took up his/her discourse and spake:

Are you kidding? A Champ well-tubed has a wonderful crunch to it.
You just can't do heavy metal. :-)

Eric Clapton used a Champ on a few popular songs on the Layla album.
