I agree that taking lessons would be a good idea.
One of these days I need to go back and go through my ol' Harr book to keep
my technique fresh. When I got the book back in elementary school, I think
after a few months I was pretty deep into it.

If you're not practicing with a metrome... start. I wish I had done so
more when I was first starting.
