Default Why the term "African-American"?


MYopinion bequeathed the following to Usenet:


Besides the mainstream media, I've heard leaders like Jesse Jackson and
Johnny Cochran use the term. Among blacks I know? Seldom if ever.

Could a Libyan who emigrated here call himself an African-American?
