Default Chicken Dance for Accordion (free sheet)

Can anyone help a beginner by pointing me to where I could get sheet music for a fairly easy version of the chicken dance (Dance Little Bird)? I've been searching all the on-line sheet music stores and I don't see this song in any accordion sheet music book that lists the contents.

Thanks
Joe G.

Joe:

I'm a little busy today but if you don't get a copy, email me next
week and I will try and scan a hand written version and send it to
you. I hope that's legal, if it isn't than I hope someone on the
forum advises me. Regards....Chuck

OK chuck....come out with your hands up!!!

Seriously: I don't beleive there's a problem since you aren't "selling" it.
Once you put a price on it, THEN you can get into trouble.

Cheers

Not so. He's right. Schools and churches have gotten into problems by buying one
copy for their chorus or band and copying parts for the rest at no charge. It's not the
fee---it's the act.

Standard reminder that a great deal of information on copyright is
available on the Library Of Congress's website, and a great deal of
information about standard licensing can be obtained from the ASCAP,
BMI, and Harry Fox Agency websites.

Yes, the problem is copying, not whether you charge. There are limited
fair use exceptions. I'd guess this instance does not qualify.

Of course the odds of someone coming after you for a single copy are
normally fairly low. But if you're going to rely on that, making a
public announcement may not be wise... <smile/>

(Caveat: I Am Not A Lawyer. I've just had to dig into this stuff as a
parodist and as part of a group that has published some songbooks.)

But , if one change a few measures in the song, and the song become not the
original ,- does the copy right apply?

Default Chicken Dance for Accordion (tune)

Hey Folks: I feel bad about my quest for one of my favorite songs turning
into a copyright thread. Looks like Gary Dahl will be putting together an
intermediate version of this tune and will be selling it on his site. I'll
be the first to buy a copy. Thanks for the interest in assisting.

Default Chicken Dance for Accordion (tune games)

Perhaps contacting the tune's composer might be in order. He might be
persuaded to place the music into the public domain if he were to
receive a portion of the fines levied at people:

1) who attempt to dance to the tune in public and make fools of
themselves when they can't keep up with the accelerating tempo.

2) who do the "wing flapping" thing in their seats at baseball games,
knocking the beer out of the hand of the person seated next to them.

Of course, some of this could come back on the performing musicians,
too, since they could be viewed as "fostering the cir***stances leading
to a crime scene" :-)
