Default DW 9000 Question

I just got a DW 9000 bd pedal and, dammit, the plate seems to be bent.
When you attach it to the bass drum hoop the heel rises half an inch off of
the ground. I put it on a flat surface and, sure enough, it's curved like
a banana. Should I send it back to Sam Ash or it suppose to be this way?
And if it's supposed to be slipper-shaped, then why? (Dammit!)

Default DW 9000 Question

Mines not bent. Sometimes though they can due to how far off the ground you
keep the front of the kic drum.
The plates on the 9000 are supposed to be much stiffer than a 5000 though.

Default DW 9000 Question (them)

Mines flat. Just like the 5000 series I used to have. If Sam Ash would
take a while or be a pain about it you might contact DW directly. I have
had great experiences with their customer service whether it was through my
local dealer or by me contacting them. They have been super.

Default DW 9000 Question (m)

I'm glad to hear that. I haven't contacted anyone yet but I will.
(Even though the engineer/drummer part of me wants to fix it myself. )

Default DW 9000 Question (them)

ALL of my DW base plates I have owned (4?) were/are bent. It's the spikes.
If you sink them in too far, they raise the front of the plate and the bass
drum slightly, then playing pressure causes it to bend.

Default DW 9000 Question (think)

Just a follow-up: I looked at the pedal plate and decided to try to bend
it straight instead of going to the trouble of returning it. The plate
bended more easily than expected and now sits flat like it should. I gave
it a few licks and WOW! It runs circles around my dw 5000 and I haven't
even tweaked it yet. Hell, I don' think I need to adjust it. )
