Default John Deacon? (so)

John has been absent from "Queen" performances during the past 8 years or
so - certainly wasn't there at Buck Palace.

Is he shunning the limelight for any reason in particular?

Default John Deacon? (the band)

The story that dare not speak its name.

It's one (or a combination) of these:

1) He's had a major falling out with BM & RT
2) A nervous breakdown has altered his perspective on life
3) He never really like being in a band and was relieved when it ended
(although not how it ended)
4) Family pressure
5) He realised that he couldn't not give a monkey about the band, its music,
its history and hates being reminded about his former life.

....although his rejection of Queen doesn't extend to telling EMI where to
stuff those large cheques.

Dave.

Why should he. People are allowed to retire you know. He owes us
nothing. We still have the music he was involved in creating. If he is
done with it then so be it IMHO.

I'm thankful for the music that remains.

Default John Deacon? (mag think)

"Ian Robinson"

I don't object to him retiring, although I do think this issue continues to
be handled badly. A final, brief letter from JD in the fan club mag thanking
the fans and saying farewell would have completely transformed the
situation. If this had been done, he'd have had more dignity and more people
would have understood. Contrast this with the current situation, JD is
conspicuous by his absence and it only leads to (probably completely off the
mark)speculation as to "why"?

Dave's right. It's just good P.R. to do this as people will naturally
ask questions and assume the worst. Look at Prince Charles! ;-)

Default John Deacon? (m them five)

In his eyes, Queen ended with Freddie. I'm sure he just assumes we know how he
feels about that. He also is not as driven musically as Brian and Roger (MO)
as he stated he thought he would be in Queen around five years. So stick a
fork in him...he's done. lol

Default John Deacon? (think)

he wants to stay out of the spotlight. No animosity. Apparantly he's moved
to America now, and he didn't even give Brian his new address (although he
gave it to Rgoer, he always felt closer to Roger I think...). His
involvement in music is limited to producing his son's band.
