Default 100 greatest rock guitarists (them)

Rolling Stone ranks them in the Sept. issue. Unless I missed something, Mick
Taylor is not on the list.

What? This is a travesty! No way is Mick Taylor not one of the top 100 rock
guitarists ever!

Default 100 greatest rock guitarists (so beyond solo)

Hey, neither is Nils Lofgren, whose talents have been so considerable
that he has been employed for studio and live work on several
occasions as an official band member by nobody less than the likes of
Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen, and had some stellar solo and
session work (Crazy Horse's first great album, with a superior version
of "Beggar's Day"), and live in studio masterwork for A&M "Back It
Up!",. Those electors should have listened to crisp and funked-out,
almost flipped-out and over-the-top and beyond-the-pale "Slippery
Fingers" off of Grin's 1 + 1 album, and the A&M anniversary collection
(vol. 13 or something like that). Oh, and The Stones were seriously
considering having him replace Mick Taylor in 1976, too. He would've
been fantastic there (yes, I opined "fantastic"). More talent at
guitar than Steve Stills, for one, that much I know, who is on the
list. Stills never had Lofgren's power, funk or innovations...

Default 100 greatest rock guitarists (guitarist)

Yeah, some threads on the NGs have already hacked that list over.
Maybe it should be looked at as Most Influential Guitarists. That
might come closer. Neil Young is no great guitarist, but he's greatly
influential. On the other hand Ted Nugent is missing (a friend
suggested he's too right-winged for Rolling Stone). There are plenty
of others that should be there just based on guitar playing. Plenty
who should not, unless Influence is also counted.

No such list that does _not_ include Steve Hackett should be taken seriously
anyway....
