Default King Super 20 (what does S1 mean?)

I'm looking into purchasing a King Super 20 trumpet or cornet. I know
from the serial number the instrument was created somewhere between
1960-1965. According to the seller, the instrument is all lacquer and
has an "S1" underneath the serial number.

Does anyone know the significance of this marking? Does this designate
the instrument as student model?

Any help would be appreciated.

Bob
