You’d have to want it a whole lot more than me to pay that kind of money!
I’m happy enough with my $1,800 ’97 Collector’s Edition Strat. I seriously
doubt that guitar is any better, and it might not even be as good. But then
again, I’m just as happy playing my Japanese Tokai or Fernandez Strats.
Keep in mind, that guitar – if anyone buys it – is probably going to someone
who won’t even play it. It’s no longer a player’s guitar, it’s a
collector’s item. And you’re right. No way!

I just checked out that site. The guy must think his store is the Jefferson
Seems to me, there oughtta be some middle ground between the basic concept
of selling a thousand $1 items a week and one $1,000 item a week. We could
define it as good quality, usable stuff for professional musicians at a
reasonable price – instead of over-priced
Hey, whatever. Glad that *I’m* not one who thinks they need to pay an arm
and a leg to have a great playing and sounding guitar and amp. God, I hate

I’m afraid to even *think* what he might want for this one. I have to
admit, though, I’d like to own it.

That dealer is here in KC. I agree, he’s not really connected to the real
world, instrument-wise. Did you check out the Mesa line up he has? There was
a Mesa dealer in town named Rich Ray. He’d been a salesman in KC for a very
long time. There aren’t many musicians here that didn’t know Rich. He passed
away just this week. Rich had been collecting PRS guitars and Mesa amps for
YEARS!! This dealer now has them all. Shame.
There’s a city wide jam for Rich next Wednesday nite. That’s kinda cool.
It’s going to be packed!

I didn’t look at the Mesas. I did look at some of the guitars though.
There are a few really nice ones, although I don’t really think they’re
worth as much as they’re price. Not for my purposes anyway, which would be
a working instrument to gig and record with. Man, I don’t want to spend
thousands on a guitar that I’d be afraid to take out of the case. That’s
just not what I need a guitar for. I need it for making music, nothing
more, and certainly none of the other reasons that people buy those kind of
guitars at those kind of prices. Hey, whatever.

I see they have a full line of dougs amps

He sells a lot of Dumble’s too.

Yeah, noticed that too. Didn’t know there were so many Rocca’s in KC. Kinda
cool, really. Means if I ever want to try one, there’s some just down the

Also lists a ’59 Les Paul for $85,000
What a j***

What the h*** are ya gonna do with an $85,000 guitar? (Other be stuck with
it. I hope he paid $75,000 for it.) You’re damned sure not gonna carry it
around to gigs.
