A new 'species', don't know if it's been described, but it's obviously
in the marginata group, although one-third the size, and not as open.
The lip it teribly dark (doesn't show with my camera), black in the
center of the throat, with a delicious fragrance.

Interesting flower.

Neither Tropicos or RBG has it listed.

Do you know who described it and where it was published?

Cheers

John

I don't know that it has been; the name may be a synonym but if it is
it's a species with which I have been previously unfamiliar (a red flag
for someone like me who has been growing these and investigating them
for 20 years). I have to re-read Dressler's article in the AOS bulletin
last year to see if it fits any of the descriptions. My primary concern
is its newness. Haven't seen one before!

Thanks Tennis.

Yes, I really like them and have now managed to acquire 5 species:
Trichopilia fragrans, T. galeottiana, T. hennisiana, T. marginata [syn T.
coccinea] and T.tortilis.

Am on the lookout for more but not so easy to find in Australia - our
quarantine system can be terminal for many imports. Quite a lottery as to
what survives the gassing.

Enjoyed seeing your new species.

Cheers

John
