Hello list -

I am pretty new to orchids. Well, new to really trying to grow them. I have bought them
off an on for the past 2 years with no luck in having them grow. They have beautiful
blooms when i buy them and then fall off in about a week and never come back. Even
though I follwo the orchid growing directions about watering them once a week and giving
them sunlight but not direct sunlight and all that good stuff.

Anyway, I LOVE orchids. I am determined to have a bunch that bloom regularly so I
thought I would join this group.

I live in the SF Bay area. So the weather here is relatively cool and breezy.

Anyway, I just bought a new orchid on Sunday. I have no idea what type it is. So I took a
photo and put it in a new album called "Lisa's Orchids" It's titled "What is This??"

Sorry for the poor photo quality, but its the best I could do for now. If you all need a
better photo, I will take one later on. The orchid is a bright magenta color with a yellow
middle and a black splotch in the middle of that. It looks a lot like a pansy. However, the
stem is VERY thick. Maybe an inch and a half around???

Any help in identifying would be great.
