Default My Boston Terrier puppy shivers!!

Hi there... my Boston Terrier puppy shivers!! He is 12 weeks old and
we've had him for 5 days. His breeder was out in the country and we
live in a very urban area (downtown Seattle). I'm wondering if he is
just getting used to his surroundings, if he is cold (we bought him a
sweater for when he is outside), or if this is something I should be
concerned about. He is an outgoing dog - sometimes a bit timid of
people, but will warm up and go to them if given a chance. I wouldn't
say he is overly shy, though. I've been getting him out to interact
with people and have been rewarding him for being friendly with
people. Is this just a Boston Terrier thing, or should I be worried??
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank You,
Susie

My weim puppy shivered at first ~ just ensure that he's otherwise fit, out
of drafts and generally healthy

Hi,
You've had the puppy for less than a week so definitely he is getting used
to his new surroundings and trying to figure everything out. By all means
keep him warm, but keep in mind that shivering is also a sign of stress. He
is still very young so keep your expectations simple and consistent. Bostons
are great little dogs-have fun with him.

Well, a couple of things...

He might be cold. Bostons have very light coats and it's getting cold out.
We had a nice Indian summer here in western WA but I think it's over...
He might be nervous. He's in a new and strange place!
He might be a baby! My dogs all shiver occasionally for no apparent reason
(It's not cold, they're not stressed, unless watching me cook is stressful.
Wait a second....) Of course, I hug and kiss them and call them brats when
they shiver so in my dogs it's probably a pathetic ploy for attention.

I assume you've taken him for his first vet check already, so he's probably
just fine. Make sure he's warm and give him time to get used to his new
home. Also, your breeder is probably the best resource. Call her!

Congratulations!

My Aunt has a two year old Boston Terrier that shakes all the time. From my
observations, she does it anytime anything is not normal. The vet says that
they all do it.
