Default first egg due to hatch to tomorrow

My lovebird had a total of 5 eggs. She had the first one 21 days ago
tomorrow (8-5-04). Once the hatching process starts, how long does it
usually take? I know there is not an exact time, but there must be a general
guideline. I have been unable to find anything on the subject online.

I know about finches take about 18 days but that might be too long if they
havent hatched. Are you sure it is fertile? Did you candle the eggs?

Yes, I have candled the eggs. What I meant though is how long for the actual
process of hatching.......

IME about two days from the first clicking noise. If you listen to
the egg, you'll hear little clicks which is the baby pecking with its
tooth to get out. The clicks start off very infrequent but towards
the end will go for maybe ten minutes then a pause then start again.
One or more of "your" eggs are probably clicking by now.

The time from when the first crack or hole appears varies a lot. It
depends on how thick the egg is and how determined the baby is. I've
had it happen so quickly that a baby just appeared, to over a day.

Unless the baby is in obvious distress, don't be tempted to "help" the
hatching. You could easily kill the baby in the process. None of
mine have ever got "stuck", but apparently they start calling for help.

The eggs tend to hatch two days apart just like they are laid.

It really depends on the bird species. Finches have a much shorter
incubation period then most parrots, his lovebird's egg should hatch
anywhere between 21 and 24 days of incubation. Gloria

It can take as long as 2 days from external pip to final hatch. Whatever
you do, don't interfere with the process before 48 hours have elapsed,
unless it is apparent that the chick is inverted in the egg and will not
make it naturally. Don't try extracting a chick from the shell if there are
any bloodvessels visible, you will kill it. ~Good luck~.
