Ticket sales end on May 15, 2005.

Local statutes require that no tickets be sold after this date. Tickets
will not be available in Savage, Maryland on Sunday, May 22, when Dr.
Branson Ritchie draws the winner's name during a presentation of his
current PDD research. So nudge your fellow club members to purchase tickets
while they are still available!

Quilt ticket holders do not have to be present to win! But many people are
looking forward to attending the presentation simply to hear the scientific
perspective directly from Dr. Ritchie. The Bird
Heard,(www.thebirdheard.com) has graciously donated meeting space and
coordinated the presentation and drawing event with Avian Health Network.

Dr. Ritchie, whose research team at the University of Georgia's College of
Veterinary Medicine benefits from the quilt drawing and door proceeds, may
be the world's leading authority on the epizootiology of PDD. His team, the
Emerging Diseases Research Group (EDRG), studies the character and causes
of epizootic diseases such as PDD in populations of psittacine birds, and
would like to someday produce an effective means for testing for the
disease, and a vaccine to prevent its spread across populations of birds.

EDRG's recent study of PDD in cockatiels has direct and immediate
implications for all of our parrot companions and flocks. More importantly,
it moves us a step further toward the protection of population health in a
unique and special avian species.
