Unless you do a loading dose of Kbr, it takes at least 2 months to
get up to a theraputic level in the blood. Loading doses of Kbr can
cause severe ataxia and other weird behaviors until the body adjusts to
the meds, which can also take up to a couple of months.
I would really worry about leaving my epi-dog at a facility that
can't give the meds at the proper time and closes for 16 hours during
the evening hours. What if your dog had a seizure and it turned into
status....that could be a life threatening condition and there would be
no one there to help your dog. Pb really needs to be given every 12
hours, or it is very likely your dog could have a seizure.
I would suggest having someone come to your house and care for your
dog while you are gone...That is what I do with my epileptic dog...if I
didn't, I would be worrying all the time I was gone about my dog.
