Dysplasia Diet Query
As an initial alternative to anti-inflammatory meds, I'm looking to
begin a diet change for an Addisonian dog with hip dysplasia to result
in a slight reduction in weight and hopefully lessening of iscomfort.
Dog has been on very low dosages of both florinef and prednisone and
has been doing fine for 7 years. Vet prescribed this change in diet
(very muscular dog but there is certainly some extra mass that could
be reduced . . . the reluctancy to be as active as before (I imagine)
is partially due to pain associated with hip problem).
Getting to my query, and with an eye toward my dog's condition, the
vet recommended Waltham's Joint Support food. Any one have any
experiences or opinions regarding this food? I'm familiar with the
Waltham's name, but that's about it. Both of my Rott/Shep dogs have
been on Innova for most of their 8 years. Been doing fine.
