I have 5 dogs. Three mixed breed dogs. The old lady, Lindsey is 14 years old, no problem. Three under 15 pounds, Pug, Yorky Poodle Mix, and Shitzu Mix. My problem is my boy. Auron, a 1 ½ year old German Shepard. . My son got him about 1 ½ years ago. He paid allot for him. The dog's father is a police dog in the Chicago area and Mother a show dog. Anyway he has become mine. I love him to death with the rest, but he is so very protective. I took him to obedience school, and he did well. The only problem I have is that he hates men. He will not obey when I tell him not to bark and all is OK, he wants to bite and.... He always listens to all my commands but this! Any suggestions? I have talked to the trainer in the past, and he said if I wanted protection, not to discipline him, but.. The only reason I'm asking here is the $25.00 per hour I have to pay the trainer. Anyway, just curious, because I have never had such a protective and attentive dog! He has to be with me everywhere! Even when I go to the bathroom I would like to also mention, he is not around people much. If I have someone coming over that is not female, I put him up. Help Thanks NancyMessage 2 in thread From: The Puppy Wizard (ThePuppyWizard@earthlink.net) Subject: Re: PLEASE HELP PROTECTIVE GERMAN SHEPARD View this article only Newsgroups: rec.pets.dogs.behavior, rec.pets.dogs.health, alt.support.grief.pet-loss, rec.pets.dogs.misc, alt.animals.dog Date: 2003-09-17 20:41:57 PST HOWEDY Nancy, "Nancy Krey" <nancy.krey@starband.net> wrote in message news:j7R9b.12309$MB5.4151135351@twister2.starband. net... I don't now whether Peach is dead or alive. I do know she's not here with us. I really can't blame anyone here for her loss. I'm the one who ignored your advice. I did it because of how you write/wrote. I was unwilling to accept the idea that my using a shock collar could have any bearing on Peach not wanting to stay home. Up until I started using it my main concern had been keeping my dogs in their own yard. Once I started using the e-fence... well, then my concern became how to keep them from running off for days on end. I lost valuable training time becoming embroiled in the anti- shock debate and the "Jerry sux" tirades. I lost one dog but I have the bestest dog in the world now <g A Wits End Trained dog, one who is completely housetrained, doesn't chew up stuff, stays in the yard, and doesn't bark all the time. IOW a great companion and friend. Thanks Jerry! ===================== misty" <Momisty@webtv.net> wrote in message news:6946-3B6337A1-329@storefull-233.iap.bryant.webtv.net... -------------------------------- |
