how fast should guinea pigs gain weight?? as i have posted i got 2
babies about 3 weeks ago , so they are about 7 weeks old now, One of them is
almost twice the size of the other... Dora, *the smaller one* i worry is too
little, but i see her eating, and drinking, but i can feel her back bone..
Where as in Maisy, she's pretty big now... Could Dora just be the runt of
the litter?

I can't answer for certain, but I have three wheekers (not related to
one another at all)...

Princess is about three years old now, and the smallest.
Napoleon is two years old, and while his head is definitely quite large
and he's very male-looking, he's not the biggest.
Katonia is turning two in a few months, and she's the largest.

I thought for a bit that Katonia was eating all the food and Princess
wasn't getting any, but that's not the case. Princess can definitely
hold her own against Katty; probably helps that they've been living
together since Katonia was about six months old, so she was smaller than
Princess when they met.

I think guinea pigs, like people, are all built differently. Because
the three all have different builds, too. Princess is quite petite,
while Katonia is large-boned and very solid. As I said, Napoleon is
just incredibly *male*.

girls can weigh less than males gp's ---and yep she could be a
runt.---Dillen and Riley are male RUNTS--She'll put on weight. She
could be an active pigger--with lotsa GO GO GO

I just took Dora out for some play time and as i picked her up she
is really hard around her genital area.. and there is a cloudy wet
substance around her. any ideas? i swear sometimes i am just a
hypochondriac! lol

She could just be in heat. My girls are right now... they're driving
Napoleon crazy, of course.

How long does it last? and should i leave her alone til its over???

It doesn't last too long - a couple of days. You don't have to leave
her alone. It's like a female dog being in heat, or a cat... all it
means is that she could get pregnant if she were mated. (Don't do that
though!)
