What kind of fish oil should one do daily...sardines daily is too much and
way too expensive for two dogs. But a post further down says one fish oil
cap daily and the Lab doesn't shed....I will try that for the sake of
sanity.

I gave Caitlin one 1000mg cap a day of Nature's Made from a pharmacy when
she was a puppy. For about a year, I've given 2 caps. I just bought a
bottle of Natrol from the grocery store because I had run out. The caps are
much harder, so I will probably go get some of the other this weekend.
I give her a tin of sardines, packed in spring water with no salt, about
once a week. The cheap brand, Crown Prince, used to be packed in olive oil,
but when they switched to soybean oil, I switched to the spring water
version.

and you notice a change in shedding?? or a lessening of shedding. I know
the Nature's Made here in FL. I will get it for the health benefits but a
decrease in shedding of both of them would be one heck of side effect!!!

Caitlin's never shed, at least not in any real visible way. A couple of
months ago, a friend was petting her and yelled, "Look, Caitlin's shedding!"
There were about three or four hairs flying in the wind.........
The only testimonial I've heard was from the owners of a Lab/Golden mix
that changed from Iams to Nutro (because of Caitlin's soft fur and lack of
shedding) and they said there was a real noticeable reduction. Your mileage
may vary...

I went to my vet yesterday and asked for the recommended dosage from both my
dogs and vet didn't know...I am thinking 2000 a day, 75lb dog and 100lb dog.
