Default Motivation In Advance Vs Reward After The Fact

HOWEDY People,

Before you get too CONfHOWENDED, try this:

HOWEDY Disciple Paulie,

It's almost like BEGGIN, ain't it.

INDEEDY! That's HOWE COME you'll NEVER
see The Amazing Puppy Wizard recommend
using bribes EVEN IF HE KNOWS the dog
WILL respond FASTER to a bribe, cause the
MICRO i.e., gettin the dog to "DO IT," ain't the
ultimate OBJECTIVE, gettin the dog to ALWAYS
WANT to "DO IT," is.

Right. AnyWON can BRIBE a dog, so long
as the BRIBE is MOORE REWARDING or
distracting than the dog's ultimate objective.

Right. Offering a bribe lowers the dog's regard
for the trainer's authority and reduces his esteem
for us and his removes his desire to WORK for
us withHOWET a physical reward.

Anytime we suc***b to a "shake dHOWEN"
or pay a BRIBE the ante will likely go UP the
next time arHOWEND.

Certainly catchin a bunny or a kat or rummagin
through a garbage can is gonna be MOORE
REWARDING than any weenie or toy we could offer.

INDEED it WORKS, but it don't ALWAYS WORK
and it doesn't have that SPECIAL "SUMPTHIN"
your dog can ONLY get from relating to YOU, just bein HOWER partner.

Right. AnyWON including the neighbor's
garbage bucket or kitty kat can offer a better
tidbit and MOORE stimulation than HOWER weenies.

The ONLY reward noWON else can offer
is HOWER "GOOD BOY! NICE DOG!"

Correct! The treat or reward immediately USURPS
HOWER authority and distracts the dog's thoughts
from the lesson at hand.

WithHIOWET a thought abHOWET YOU.

Only so long as he desires the treat MOORE
than another behavior and there's NUTHIN
BETTER available anywhere else.

Right. "RESPECT" is a two way street. Offering
and withholding treats / rewards INCREASES
anxiHOWESNESS to a dangerHOWES level
where OCD'S and SEIZURES live.

Instead of HOWETA pain fear force and greed.

Or cause we'll SHUN or HURT him if he don't.

Like when we do sumpthin we'd rather not, just for the Mrs.

INDEEDY. "Be HAPPY in your work." Like takin the
Mrs. to the opera. SHORE it ****s, but the REWARD
is GREAT for sufferin a few HOWERS.

THEN THEY HURT and INTIMIDATE their dog
to GET THEIR OWN WAY. It's kinda like sayin
"F" the opera and just rapin the Mrs.
Think allelomimetic behavior...

Right. The ONLY thing NO WON ELSE in the
Whole Wild World got is HOWER "GOOD BOY!
NICE DOG!," even if he hasn't EARNED IT.

Kinda like when you tell the Mrs. her arse doesn't
look fat in them clothes. Who cares? You gotta see
her fat arse nekkid anyHOWE.

OtherWIZE, it'd be like the Mrs. sayin we gotta
take her to the opera or she'll HURT us. The
deed may get done, but SHE ain't gettin the
REWARD in the long run (i.e., we won't take
HOWET the trash!).

Thank you Jerome. Ain't that the manual most of the
experts on this forum tell folks to killfile because it
doesn't work and will cause temperament problems
in some dogs because the method is too lenient.
At least that's what those who know say...

Seems you're mistaken, Jerome. ed w of petloss

a scam:

Hi, Jerry.

I'm not sure that I'm a 100% convert, or that I agree
with (or even understand) 100% of what you say in this
manual ... BUT ... we had "come" down pat in a few
reps and you could have knocked me down when I tried
the exercise with "drop" and, after a few reps in
different spots Darwin practically *threw* the rubber
ball at my feet on command. He's still not perfect
(just a pup, after all, and he's stubborn enough to
want to push and test me a little bit more).

For what it's worth, I can see (as no doubt you have)
how your usenet manner is likely to rankle a few
folks, but that woman who advocates ear pulling and
beating with sticks deserves everything she gets. Even
if that was the only method that would work, I'd live
with my dog not fetching rather than do any of that.
(Darwin fetches enthusiastically and instinctively,
tho').

Best, ben
