Well, now that we are mortgage-free, we are starting our search for
land. This means a lot of juggling has to be done with finding The
Princess a place to stay for a night or two at very short notice,
travelling with Baby Servant, and (eventually) finding temporary
accommodation to live in whilst we build our new house.

So my posts will be spradic for a while... But I'll try to update
bunnymad.co.uk once a month so that you can see what The Princess has
been up to.

Best Wishes to everyone,

The Servant

Exciting times, Servant!
Remember to pop in and say hello if you're ever in the neighbourhood :-)

boy i don't envy you servant. i'm almost at the end of putting on a 900 sq.
foot addition and i am at the end of my rope! i'm seriously thinking of
getting some prozac.

it's an extremely stressful time. however, the fact that you won't be
living in the mess should make it a lot less stressful.

happy hunting.

Are you literally going to build your own house, Servant?

Or have it built?

It does sound exciting!

Looking forward to tales from the construction site.

Well, building your own home in England is very different from doing
it in the US, Canada or other European countries . Almost everybody
laughs and scoffs at the idea because so few people do it. But that
just makes me more determined...

People laughed when I said I would write and be published...

They laughed when I said I would be mortgage free before the age of 35
(I've a couple of years to go!)
But who's laughing now?! <Maniacal laugh>

Anyway, I would LOVE to have a room dedicated to The Princess, but I
don't think it will be practical. I want her to be with us in our main
living area, not segregated away...

I'll have to choose the flooring and wall covering very carefully so
that it is as bunny friendly but as bunny-proof as possible. Ideally I
want wooden flooring (not laminate) and under-floor heating, but wood
is slippery...

We'll just have to bring The Princess to show-rooms and test out the
different options!

Best Wishes,

The Servant (hunter, gatherer, and house-builder-to-be)

i love to design and have it build my own home to my liking, you are a lucky
one to be mortgage free at 35, i wish for myself, who laugh at you at those
things? maybe you should tell the Pricess she will straight it out.

A bit of both. I want to do as much of it myself as possible. In
England, most houses are 'brick and block', but I would prefer a
timber framed house as they can be built more quickly and have better
heat insulation. Therefore, I will have to buy a kit which will be
erected on site. Once erected work can proceed on the interior and
exterior at the same time. I will probably stick to the interior work
- wiring, plumbing, etc.

But exactly how much I build myself will depend on the planning
permission.

I hope to have bought my land by Christmas, and then the fun will
begin!

You might think of an extension to a room that is just for The Princess. That's
what we did, we added a 5x14 area that's like a sunroom (Florida Room) It's
heated and air conditioned and is only partially blocked off from the den (4 1/2
foot opening to their area) ... They're still allowed in the house with us, but
at night they have their own bedroom. It also would be a great breakfast room
for anyone who didn't use it for Bunnies. I put matt finish tiles on the floor,
they're super easy to clean but not very slippery at all.

Just suggestions ... and I'm sure you'll get tons of those <g>
