Be careful about ebay. Be sure that the shipping costs are clear, and look
around to make sure you are not paying more or the same price for a used cage
that you would if you purchased it new. It's easy to do and I watch people
doing it all the time.

Good advice, Teeb. I bought an indoor rabbit cage for Toofer on eBay. They
didn't want to give me all the parts that were listed without charging more.

buying pet things on eBay. The only satisfaction I got was leaving negative
feedback.

I have bought a lot of things on eBay, however, that were real bargains.
The pet things, I've noticed, usually cost as much or more than they do in
local or online stores. Pet carriers, pet pens, pet food are usually not a
good deal on eBay IME.

One of the problems with buying pet items on ebay is that there are many people
who are selling supplies as a business.

Be sure before you bid, to know EXACTLY how much you are going to be expected
to pay in shipping and handling. No "s/h to be determined later". Send an email
with your city/state and zip code and ask for a quote.

Some of the items are also very heavy which means the price of shipping can be
quite costly. In cases like these, it can be less expensive to purchase from an
online store or a pet store, so check prices.

Most people on ebay are honest, read feedback before purchasing, pay attention
to what is said about them and what they say in response. This can give you an
idea of how they conduct business.

I also buy many things from EBay and have sold a few also. . I agree that you "have" to mentally
include the shipping cost when calculating if it is a good buy. I like the new page format and
especially like the shipping calculator that you can add to your sale site. This way anyone can know
what the shipping will be to their zip code before they bid. I only charge the actual amount that it
will cost me to ship the item that I sell.

I ship USPS and order my supplies from the postal service. They supply free boxes. I also have a
postal scale so I know exactly what the package weighs before I list it ... The shipping calculator
has been very accurate for me so far. I love it as opposed to charging a set fee since there can be
a lot of difference in the shipping charges if the item is going to California or Canada verses most
anywhere on the east coast. This way I don't feel like I am over charging anyone and also am not
taking part of shipping out of profit (which usually isn't much of a mark up anyway) ... Just my 2
cents :-)
