Hi,
I'm new here looking for emergency help! My female dwarf had pups 7 days ago and yesterday, I found one of her pups seperated from the group and he is now missing his right hind leg. I know that Mothers routinely eat their pups when something is wrong with them or whatever, but he seems in general good health including the wound area where his leg is missing. It was cleanly removed at the hip area and is healing perfectly (no infection) Anyway, I removed him from the cage because I couldn't bear for her to eat him and now I am hand raising him with kitten milk and colostrum. Has anybody here done this successfully with such a young pup? Does anyone have any suggestions. I am keeping him warm with a light and so far he is doing fine (32 hours)Please help me with what else I should do. Please e-mail me so not to waste space here on the site. I would so greatly appreciate this. Hugs, Siouxan lazysiouxan@hotmail.com |
