Default Older rats and surgery

Hi everyone. I have an appointment for Eowyn tomorrow as it looks like she
has a tumor. It seems to be benign. My question is: is it okay to have a
tumor removed on a rat aged 31 months if she's in good health otherwise?
Pippin is 25 months and he just had his tumor removed a few weeks ago as
some may remember and he is doing great; everything smoothed out, the scabs
are falling off and the hair is growing back. I'm just worried about the
stress this might cause her.

Any thoughts will be appreciated
Scritches to all the ratties!

Niobe had a benign mammary tumor removed in February, when she was
about 30 months old. She recovered very quickly (on the way home in
the car she staggered over to the food bowl and stayed there, even
though she couldn't quite sit up straight because of the lingering
anaesthetic effects).

I have had surgery done on rats around that age, serious tumour
removals as well, and they have recovered nicely.
Overall condition and health play a more major role than age alone. I
would not hesitate to do a life extending surgery on a rat of that age
as long as they were in good health.

I once asked my vet if age should be a factor when deciding on surgery.
She told me absolutely not. If rattie is in good health, then it should
be done.
