Lovely rats you have there.

Don't mean to be rude, but just wondering why you don't line the
shelves and floor of their cage. I'm sure it would get uncomfortable
for their feet. I line mine with fabric, such as polar fleece. I've
seen others use bits of lino.

Normally it has wet and dry marrine carpet, but i washed it that day while
cleaning out their cage, it was just hanging out to dry..

they like sitting on the carpet, i cant imagine it being nice on their feet
standing on it for a lengthy period of time. + the whole bumble foot thing.

i try and provide a variety of surfaces to walk and sit on, rocks, polar
fleec hammocs, carpet, plastic and the wire floor, even been putting in some
fallen brances which they seem to like chewing on.
