Socializing my new rats is going well Thanks to all for your suggestions
Hello all,
My rats Agatha Scrat and Lindanelli are doing really well now with
being handled. We've had no more biting incidents with Agatha Scrat. I
used a combination of Joanne's advice to put them in my sweatshirt, the
20-minute forced socialization technique, and lots of Cheerios. I put
them down my sweatshirt after I work out. Sounds stinky but I figure
that way my body's scent is not too disguised by soap and shampoo. I've
been sitting in front of their cage with the door open and let them
smell my hair. Lindanelli started giving it a tug. I'm not sure if she
thought it was nesting material or if she was trying to groom me, but
it was pretty funny. Also, I wear a baseball hat when I work out, so I
flip the baseball hat upside down in my lap and drop a rat in my hat.
There's a lot of energetic sniffing going on when they are in the hat.
Anyway, things are progressing nicely and I appreciate everyone's help
with my earlier posts.
Cheers!
Kim
