Default Stunthamster overspeeding on wheel gets spun off

Hello. I have a 2 month old Roborovski male named Whacko. He doesn't just
trot on his exercise wheel but absolutely gallops full speed ahead. It's
scary to watch!

At such high speeds, the momentum of the spinning wheel will spin him
upsidedown one or even two complete loops. Very often, he'll get thrown off
and crash lands. Wham!

Whacko's one tough dude, a real showoff. After shaking off bedding that
clings to his longish fur, he'll leap back on the wheel and sprint like the
devil over and over again.

That would be cool to see, but I hope he does not hurt himself. My hammie
just jogs in her wheel. Nothing exciting.

I think some definitely like the adrenalin rush and terrifying their keepers
is probably part of the fun. lol!!

You'll just have to make sure there's nothing too hard and sharp in the
cage. I'm assuming that it can't hurt the wee mite or he wouldn't do it
again.

My last 2 syrians were definitely thrill seekers. When staying at my
sister-in-laws she put a large bolster across the kitchen door to stop them
"falling" down the 2 steps into the kitchen. Within minutes the little
monkeys learnt that if they ran at speed in their playballs and rammed the
skirting board at just the right spot they could bounce over the bolster.

Our robo's all do the exact same thing.

I've seen them running, stop cold and spin around as many as 8 times before
getting tossed out onto the shavings.

Then they pick themselves up, shake a bit, and hop right back into the
wheel.

We still can't handle them yet, but they are a blast to watch.

My little DJ has just about worn out her wheel.
Soon I`ll have to replace it. She`s just about worn away the little pin that
holds it together.

In fact, if you do a search for 'hamster' on google video, this is one
of the first things that appears. Link:

Yeah, I've seen that before. It's very funny. It seems those type of
wheels have a ball bearing that makes them go real fast. Our hammie used to
have one but outgrew it.
