Default Tulsa rat rescues

i have been looking into getting my first pair of rats for some time
now. we have been in the process of moving for longer than expected
and are finally going to be settled soon and i will be available for
adoption ;-)

a long distance friend who keeps rats has suggested i look into
rescuing a rat before purchasing at a pet store, does anyone know of
any rats in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA in need of a home?

I can't help you with there since I'm in Canada but I just want to say
how truly wonderful of you to consider adopting from a shelter or rescue!!!
BTW, don't forget, it' has to be two rats.

If you go to petfinder.org and do a search, there are two listings that
might interest you. One is in Bixby which is right outside of Tulsa and
one is in Warr Acres outside of Oklahoma City. Good luck! I just got
our family's first pair of rats this summer and we already love them
dearly. Rescue is a very good choice. I tried to do that around here,
but there was just nothing available short of a 6 hour drive.

While you are on PetFinder, check the 'Classified Ads' section at the
top as well. Those are individuals listing animals that they need to
rehome, they are not shelters. Often there are rats in OK that are
listed.
I just checked the classified ads and there aren't any rats listed
right now.
You can also check here:
http://www.ratrescue.com
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Rat-Adoption/
Both the above will allow you to post that you are looking for rats,
and people can reply if they are in your area. Sometimes there are
rescues that are not on PetFinder, but they will more than likely be
members of internet forums and lists.

Just to say, rescuing animals is so rewarding, you won't regret it! Good
luck with finding a couple!
