Default dettering 'tiels from landing on moulding/corncies?

Someone out there must have an answer to this...

I would like to deter my ****atiels from landing on cornices and mouldings
in my apartment. This is due mostly to the fact that they enjoy gnawing on
the wood there which is bad for them (also, I want my security deposit back

What I'm looking for is something prickly that they aren't going to want to
land on but they won't impale themselves on either. My first thought was
something like the branch of a fake Christmas tree or a horizontal tie rack
turned upside-down. Curved pieces of plastic tubing that they can't get a
grip on came up, too.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
JM

Get a disco ball and cover all the little mirrors except the ones that
travel along the cornice mouldings.
