I have two budgies that are about 3 years old. I have noticed on one of them
(the male) that he has a few bald spots under his neck. He has had this for
about 4 months. I didn’t think anything of it, but now he looks like he is
developing a bald spot on his wing. Nothing has changed in his behaviour;
he is very lively and friendly. He does not pick at his feathers so I don’t
think it is any insect problem. The birds are kept very clean (warm water
spray bath given to them approximately once every two weeks); the cage is
washed down weekly; and they are allowed to fly around the house during the
day (and therefore get plenty of exercise) and go into their cages at night
only to sleep. What could be the cause of teh spots?
Another question is that during the winter months, how often should the
birds be given a warm water spray bath?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It really is impossible for anyone to diagnose online.You say he “looks
like” he is getting bald on his wings. So is he or isn’t he? Where is he
bald? How big are these patches?
The best thing to do is to make an appointment with your avian vet and get
a proper diagnosis.
