The cunning of the Liberal party never ceases to amaze me. Take this ***
issue, a real hot issue but they have set it up so that they (the Party)
can't lose.
First a free vote - an exercise in democracy by liberals .... no way.
Consider the alternative, if the party took a definite stand, one side or
the other of the electorate would blame the party. This way the vote will
probably be split...then you can't solely blame the party, so you blame
those members you disagree with. The result is that some of these will lose
their seat but this will be regarded as simply a sacrifice for the greater
good....of the party. Of course they will also fall back on the Charter and
the SCC as well to add to the confusion...sort of like the fog of war, eh!.

If little happens in parliament before Martin calls an election, it will all
come down much the same at election time, vague promises and dissenting
opinions. Once in power, this indecision will disappear and a decision will
be forced through. In the following four years this will all be history and
mostly forgotten as more promises roll out for the next election.
With the *** vote in their pocket and dissention dispersed, the Party wins
another one.

Then we have the democratic reforms being promised (vaguely) by Martin. Now
these are reforms the opposition have been screaming for as long as I can
remember. My prediction is that the Liberals will maneuver to take for
credit for all these reforms in restoring democracy to Canadian politics.
I cheat a little here as I listened to a Liberal talking head today
stressing that these reforms were coming if, only if ...the opposition
didn't derail them. So the valiant Liberal party fights on for democratic
reform in spite of the opposition parties. Give me a break.
This talking head admitted that the people were starting to demand such
changes and the party is always ready to shift directions if they detect a
change in the wind.

The motto of the Liberal party should be..." Lie, Cheat and Steal, as
necessary".
They "lie" to get elected. They "lie" in calling any opposition to their
social policies to be based on racism, bigotry, etc.
They "cheat" the country with the sheer volume of patronage appointments,
their resistance to democratic reforms and stealing the ethnic and minority
vote (***s, etc) at any cost and through any means.
They "steal" the taxpayer's dollars on billion dollar boondoggles whose only
purpose is to get ethnic, minority or special interest votes or... feather
some Liberal nest.
