begging the Chretien Liberals for money to help pay the staggering costs
of SARS .
Can it be McGuinty also dragged from the PM a commitment not to give the
Tories

this election, it will be interesting to see how much the feds cough
up--and how quickly".

This would suggest that the vindictive Chretien's Liberals have been
punishing the people of Ontario
for electing a non-Liberal government provincially. It is not enough
that Ontario has
given Chretien almost all its federal seats in three elections. The
one-party-state Liberal
machine in Ottawa wants no opposition anywhere. Quebec has played its
cards better
than Ontario. . By electing substantial numbers of BQ. M.P.s Quebec
has received considerable largesse
and patronage from Ottawa to help try to win back Bloc seats to the
Liberal fold. Chretien has not
had to do that in Ontario because he already has all the seats. He can
take Ontarians for
granted, and the old French reprobate has for ten years.

Ontario taxpayers have been a cash cow for the Ottawa Liberal government
and they have
received **** all in return.

LOL. Finally the Liberals are starting to smarten up. Isn't withholding
funding exactly the same thing the Mulroney Tories did to Bob Rae's NDP.
It's just politics Brucey. That's how it's done. Now that you know how it
feels to be on the (non)receiving end, it's not so great any more, is it?

I don't recall that. Mulroney never made any drastic cuts to health care
that I can remember. That's
why he was running large deficits.

But it is the Ontario people who have suffered. And as a result they
should stop voting Liberal.

The lion's share of fed cuts didn't even cut in until '95, at which
time Ontario had a PC government.

Actually, if this was going to work they would have to announce such a deal
during the election. This would, they would hope, garner votes for the
Liberals. The local MPP (a simple minded Conservative) announced funding
for our local hospital, just before the election call, of up to about
$5,000,000. The firm figure will be announced after the election. If the
Liberals want to make such a scenario work they have to do it like the
Tories.
