I am not one to defend the execesses of angry ***s, especially females,
during the Clinton administration. Much of the degradation of corporate
accountability was done under cover of civil rights protections dragging
this very important area of the law through the mud - often only for the
benefit of some very young primadonnas. As well as some not so young, who
are certainly still a problem.

One possible response of Ashcroft to these abuses would be to prosecute the
worst of them. Certainly Affirmative Action cannot be perfect, and there
will be mistakes that need to be fixed. But Ashcroft and crew are anethema
to holding anyone in power accountable to their actions - whether they got
it through affirmative action or through a culture of corporate
accountability.

Pot smoker's are the most recent attempt of Ashcroft's and crews strategy of
hatemongering. Sure, pot smoker's have done some stupid things, and losing
a job is certainly something that could be justified from use - just is as
ANY evidence of alcohol problems.

What the law is really doing here is attempting to use pot smoker's as the
new 'niggers' of american society. Ashcroft's attacks on ***s follow on
this core tradition in the practice of the law - a tradition that goes back
way before the legal enforcement of slavery laws.

And one that the profession has still not held itself accountable for.
Which also reminds me, Mr. Ashcroft, of the number of criminal deadbeat
no-accounts still running around the boardrooms of corporate America.

How about it Mr. Aschcroft - are you up to actually using the law to punish
someone who actually poses a risk to American Society or are you just going
to pick on those folks that you think, rightly or wrongly are going to be
self-destructive for their entire lives?

Come, on COWARD, MAKE MY DAY.

How wize is it to simply ignore federal law? What kind of precedence
would it set? What other laws could be ignored.

Why not just have the law repealed, if the public sentiment is there
as you say it is? Isn't that a 'cleaner' solution?

That would be the ideal .. to repeal the law.

However, the liquor lobby pours millions of dollars into campaign
contributions and lobbying to see to it that marijuana STAYS illegal.

They know very well that if you could stop at the Quick-Trip on the way
home and pick up a couple of joints to toke at home with the old lady
and have a good time and wake up in the morning feeling fine with no
hangover --- there is no way in hell you would buy beer or booze instead.

Their business would probably take a 60% drop and they are paying
millions to make sure that doesn't happen.

So they keep a whole stable of bought lawmakers ready and willing to
decry the "awfulness" of marijuana and to vote to keep it illegal from
now till the Republican party advocates condom handouts in schools and
birth control education.

That is conjecture.
We are not talking legalization, just adding it to the pharmacopia and
making it available to cancer patients by presription as we do
narcotics now.
