That's already been done, shrill bigot who's living in a cave.
Here's the ANSWER --- Last week, egalitarians everywhere were provided a HUGE reason to rejoice, as the U.S. Supreme Court toog a giant step toward redeeming itself for its ungodly error whereby it badly discredited itself, in 2000, by APPOINTING Bush to the Presidency over the will of the people. Whether or not that factor played a part of the Lawrence decision -- who knows? But suddenly the Court, after a long hiatus, is again being FAIR and considerate to individual liberties. (6 out of 9 of the justices, anyway. And a 2/3 majority isn't bad!) HOWEVER -- in ABC's "This Week with George Stephanop- olous" on Sunday, June 29, it became VERY clear that the Bigotry Amendment is probably going to be on a VERY fast track to easy passage by Congress, and RAPID-FIRE ratification by the number of states needed (2/3 of them) to become CONSTITUTIONAL law. That thing makes the DOMA laws look like walks in the park! If that amendment passes, even the U.S. Supreme Court will almost surely be powerless to do ANYTHING about it. Nor is it likely they would even try. Ever!! It would engrave in stone -- possibly forevermore -- America's totalitarianism with respect to prohibiting same-sex marriage. It would become the single WORST and freedom-UNfriendly Constitutional Amendment in all of American history. It has the solid backing/sponsorship of the RRR cult's legal arm, the ACLJ (so-called "American Center for Law and Justice" -- perhaps the best example of a MIS-named organization ever), and all the hateful bigots who lead the Religious Radical Right, with D. James Kennedy ("Coral Ridge Ministries") at the forefront. "Time" magazine pointed out that this will "energize" the "Christian fundamentalists." That is perhaps as much of an understatement as we've seen since the words, "Obviously a major malfunction" were spoken in 1986! MOST (as in, darned-near ALL) of those supposed "Christian fundamentalists" are about as UN-Christian and IGNORANT as is humanly possible to be. The actual Christians among them are totally deluded by the RRR cult's propaganda, and actually THINK they are doing something worthwhile. The rest are PSEUDO-Christians who have nothing better to do than steep themselves in hateful bigotry and control-freakism. But the really bad news is that -- as ludicrous as it is!! -- 'conservatism" has been "in" with a lot of people in recent years, and unless we AWAKEN America to the loathesomeness of this amendment, it is VERY likely to become part of the Constitution. This is as SERIOUS as it GETS, folks!! We either nip this thing in the bud right NOW, or it could spread like a California wildfire being blown by 150-mph Santa Ana winds. Gaining momentum inexorably. And be totally unstoppable! The organizations of the gay community HAVE to be fully aware of all of this, but I just wanted to add my own voice of support for the extreme URGENCE of taking IMMEDIATE action to decry, discredit, protest, and STOP this loathesome attempt to forever destroy vital individual liberties. ==== JUST as MLK, Jr. led the blacks on marches and in rallies ==== to END segregation, and secure Civil Rights -- WE... the gay community and all of its straight allies like myself... need someone like King to get out there and ENERGIZE a **new** ==== Civil Rights movement. ==== However much momentum we've ever had, we probably have right now, at this moment. If we don't act within DAYS, we could lose it all. Forever. It is THAT bad. And action NOW ... **right** now!!!... is NEEDED. Please forward this message to any and all that you think can contribute to this effort. All of the dedicated people you know. All of the dedicated AND charismatic people you know. Any and all people you think could BE the MLK, Jr. for the gay Community. We NEED him or her right now, more than ever before. We need a strong and visible leader who can *energize* the community, and get us all on the move so dramatically (yet non-violently, and NOT in "shocking" ways that would offend the heterosexuals) that the effect on the political stage will be the SAME as we saw 40 yeats ago when the bigotry of segregation was expelled forever from the American scene. We need as many of *us* -- the heterosexuals -- on our side in this fight as we can get.) that Congress will not only SCRAP the Bigotry Amendment, but MAY even be led to pas the OPPOSITE of it... an Amendment that would GUARANTEE the legality of same-sex marriages. Let's ROLL !!! -- Craig Chilton xanadu222@mchsi.com |

That's a good idea. Such an amendment would be much better and stronger,
IMO, than an amendment outlawing homosexuality or strange marriages. There's really only one very simple important moral truth that is vastly underappreciated: Semen must not enter the digestive sytem! For details, see the "Addiction and Deception" chapter of my book, Exact Morality for Today, available for free download at http://members.aol.com/step314/EMFT.html . |
