Sen. John Edwards, North Carolina Democrat and 2004 presidential
hopeful, is four months delinquent in paying the property taxes on his
Georgetown mansion and owes the cash-strapped District more than
$11,000, city records show.

Mr. Edwards is worth somewhere between $12 million and $30 million
after a successful career as a personal injury lawyer, according to
his financial disclosure forms. He bought the eight-bedroom,
6,672-square-foot home in the tony neighborhood for $3.8 million in
September.

Democrats like to raise taxes as long as someone else is paying them.

ShowS what you know -- which is zero. something like 1/3 of all
Washingtonians rarely pay property taxes because the system is so
screwed up. He likely has never received a property tax bill. In one
of my assignments to the Pentagon, I worked for a senior Dept of
Defense civlian who had lived in DC for years. He had not paid a
water bill, property tax bill, or license plate renewal for 8 years --
the city could not get a bill to him. Each year he sent a check for
what he thought his property taxes were -- each year they sent it
back. After trying for 8 years, he finally got a property tax bill --
took him another six months to prove that he had tried to pay it for 8
years. Never did get a water bill.
