Empire Arms has some kind of French pistol for sale.
http://www.empirearms.com/249221-1.jpg

I wonder if you can depend on it to fire when you pull the trigger, or if
it will demand 10 months of debate by the UN first and then just flat out
refuse and insist that it will resist any attempts to fire it. <hee hee!>

Well I see you are four square in the Jingoist camp. French arms are
some of the best in the world.

For some one who claims to love Freedom, you sure seem to go along
with the wars for empire line coming out of Washington these days.

Owner and shooter of a FAMAS, proud of it and all things French.

Let's not be ridiculous here.

French arms have traditionally been some of the WORST, with a few
exception.

Let's talk about the Lebel and Mannlicher-Berthier.

Or how about the St. Etienne and Chauchat machineguns?

Or the AA52 machinegun which has been said to "work... but just"?

The last time they were in the forefront and stayed there was with the
Charleville musket.

The French behavior in the UN was jingoistic, WAY more than this mans joke,
which was funny btw.

That's like saying "finest moon pie". The proverbial answer to the unasked question.

Not really. There are MP-40s still in service all over the world,
nevermind Thompsons and Stens.

Quantity does not equal quality.

No it wasn't. The Madsen was, and FAR more effective.

Gee, the only problem was that it didn't WORK... well except for a
small number made by a small sub-contractor who didn't follow the
blueprints and did it right... or as right as you could with such a wretched design.

That's not a smallarm. A good field gun, but far too much reliance
was placed upon it to the exclusion of larger, more effective guns.

And two years later, the Germans fielded the M1888 Commission Gewehr,
a FAR superior weapons firing a far superior cartridge... and incorporating a SAFETY.

I'm quite familiar with French ordnance. It's on a par with, if not
slightly inferior to most Japanese ordnance.
